Have fun connecting with your neighbours and creating a healthy, vibrant Merri-bek.
Conduct a Play Street
Play Streets or Street Parties are small-scale gatherings in a residential street where neighbours of all ages can connect, normally lasting 2-3 hours. They are resident organised and run, designed to bring neighbours together in a relaxed community focused atmosphere, safe from car traffic.
Our Toolkit provides a step-by-step guide to help you organise your event.
Inclusive and Sustainable Communities Working Group
Our Inclusive and Sustainable Communities Working Group brings together more than 20 people from diverse cultural backgrounds across Merri-bek, to work closely with Council.
We work together to share ideas, learn from each other and encourage sustainable living and waste reduction in our own communities. Everyone brings valuable knowledge and lived experiences that help make sustainability more inclusive and accessible for all.
Join a Community Garden
Community gardens bring community members together and are environmentally friendly.
In Merri-bek, there are a number of different community gardens. These gardens aren’t all the same — so it’s important to know how the specific garden works that you want to use. Some of them are a collection of separate garden beds and some of them are one shared space for the community.
