International Urban Agriculture Forum 2021

As part of our support for Local Food initiatives and Urban Agriculture (under the Merri-bek Food System Strategy) Merri-bek is sponsoring the International Urban Agriculture Forum 2021 (22-24 April) and the associated Urban Agriculture month of events throughout April. The bi-annual Forum is themed Care Farming & Gardening in the Climate Emergency and will feature new research, developments and case studies on the growing urban agriculture sector in Australia and beyond.

Merri-bek Council is proud to be presenting on the topic of our Food System Strategy in practice alongside two of our local food partners: the Ecological Justice Hub and Fawkner Food Bowls.

We are also collaborating to hold local food workshops, tours and events with (click for event details) Growing Farmers, Fawkner Food Bowls, Coburg Farmers Market and Warr Park Food Forest as part of the national Urban Agriculture month. Moreland’s local food leaders will bring to life how urban agriculture contributes to a sustainable environment, climate resilience, community connections and the health and wellbeing of the Merri-bek community.
