In June 2026, Merri-bek launched its new Green Infrastructure Guidelines, developed in partnership with the City of Melbourne to help developers, designers and planning consultants incorporate plants and vegetation into building projects.
Responding to growing interest in greener, more sustainable development, the guidelines provide practical, step-by-step advice on the planning, design, delivery and ongoing maintenance of green roofs, walls, façades and in-ground plantings. The resource also identifies the qualified personnel who should be involved at each stage.
The guidelines form part of Merri-bek’s suite of Better Quality Development resources, which support greener, healthier and more climate-resilient development across the municipality.
