Twenty-eight apartment building in Merri-bek have installed solar with rebates from the Victorian Government’s Solar for Apartments Program.
Solar for Apartments Rebates
Rebates to install solar for apartments, units and townhouses are open until 30 June 2027 or until all rebates are exhausted, whichever comes first.
Rebates of up to $2,800 per lot, with a maximum amount of $140,000 for properties of up to 150 lots.
Expanded eligibility
New program changes announced in September 2026, remove the property value cap and expand eligibility for larger apartment buildings to help more residents access solar .

Merri-bek Home Energy Subsidy program
If you are a Merri-bek resident currently on a low-income you could also receive further support as part of the Merri-bek Home Energy Subsidy program.
Merri-bek offers a subsidy of up to $3000 to install solar.
