There are 36,000 less pieces of plastic going to landfill, littering the streets, or bouncing about in the storm water system thanks to 29 local cafes.
Through the Plastic Free Sydney Road initiative, delivered by Boomerang Alliance, these 29 businesses in Sydney Road, Brunswick and Sydney Road, Coburg are reducing or eliminating 9 key single-use plastic packaging items. These items include cutlery, water bottles, straws and coffee cup lids.
Five businesses have eliminated all items, becoming Plastic Free Champions. Home. One café in Brunswick has gone a step further and removed single-use coffee cups altogether!
