Applications are open for two scholarships to develop environmental leadership from within our community.
The scholarships are part of Council and community working together for a Zero Carbon Moreland. Together we can create a better future for our planet, our city, our community and our children.
We particularly encourage applications from people who identify as from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander communities, migrant and refugee communities and people with disability.
Merri-bek Women Environment Leadership Community Scholarship
The scholarship has been established to support women and gender diverse people from our community participate in the Women’s Environmental Leadership Australia (WELA) leadership development program.
The program runs from May to October which includes both online and face-to-face retreats. The program is limited to 20 places for women and gender diverse people actively engaging in paid or unpaid environmental work.
The scholarship will cover the full costs of participation (including travel costs) for one person.

Merri-bek Nature-Based Leadership Community Scholarship
The scholarship supports someone from our community to participate in CERES Nature-Based Leadership Training 2022.
This immersive, nature-based leadership program building from many years’ experience delivering community learning that is grounded in the natural world. CERES and Nature’s Apprentice offer the 10-month program to create the earth-based leadership and resilience we and our communities will need in the coming decades.
The scholarship covers the program cost.
