Mary lives in Glenroy, and recently got help from the Council to stop draughts around her house.
“I thought it was a good opportunity for me, because I do have cold air coming through the house, especially in winter time,” she says.
Blocking draughts is a great way to make your home warmer in winter and cooler in summer. It can also mean lower heating and cooling bills.
Sealing up draughts around the home
Installers arranged by the Council did a range of draught sealing at Mary’s home. They put seals around the doors and a cover on her bathroom fan to stop cold air coming in the gaps.
“It has made an enormous difference,” Mary says.
She was happy with the process, too. “The assessor comes out and explains everything to you,” she explains. “It makes it clear what needs to be done.”
Mary encourages other residents to take up the Council’s offer. She says that sealing your home against draughts is very important for your well-being.
“It’s such a good opportunity that you don’t want to miss out”
