Coburg resident Delviene had insulation installed in the roof of her home, assisted by Council.
“Merri-bek Council has a program for low income earners,” she explains. “You can have up to $2,000 worth of extra insulation in your home.”
Insulation works like a blanket around your home, keeping warm air inside in winter. It can also help keep it cool in summer.
“The insulation has made a big difference to the comfort of my home, plus to my power bills,” Delviene says.
“I used to walk upstairs and it was so hot, and now it’s very comfortable. All I’ve got is overhead fans, which are cheap to run, and it’s no problem at all in the summertime.”
Delviene says she is very thankful for the Council program. “I felt like I paid my rates and then they gave it back to me!” she explains.
She advises anyone in the Merri-bek Council area to enquire about the program.
