Merri Food Hub was founded in March 2022 and is committed to promoting food justice in the Merri-bek area by improving access to fresh, affordable, and culturally relevant food.
They are thrilled to be partnering with Open Table to deliver the ‘Nurture and Nourish’ program, funded by VicHealth, across Glenroy and Fawkner from 2025 – 2027.
Weekly Market
The grant enables them to hold two weekly pop-up markets in Glenroy and Fawkner where they sell quality fresh produce at up to twenty per cent cheaper than the major supermarkets
- Glenroy Community Hub, Wednesdays 10am to 1pm, starting 29 Jan 2025
- Fawkner Senior Citizens’ Centre, Fridays 9am to 1pm (online box collection until 4pm), starting 31 Jan 2025
Merri Food Hub are looking for volunteers for both markets – you can register your interest to volunteer through this link
Monthly Community Days
Merri Food Hub wants to bring together local community groups, organisations and values-based businesses at a monthly Community Day. They believe this will lead to greater social cohesion, increased community resilience and heightened knowledge of the amazing work that is being done in Merri-bek.
Merri Food Hub will host 3 monthly community days:
-
- Friday, 7 February 2025, 9am – 1pm
- Friday, 7 March 2025, 9am – 1pm
- Friday, 4 April 2025, 9am – 1pm
Participation is free and open to not-for-profits, community groups and other values-based organisations and businesses who service the Merri-bek area.
Groups must be responsible for setting up, staffing, and packing up their own tables. As tables are limited, groups will be encouraged to share resources to pitch in and help each other where needed. The purpose of the stall must be non-sectarian/non-religious.
If you would like to be involved, complete the EOI through this link and Merri Food Hub will be in touch
