Maria read about Merri-bek Council’s support for installing insulation in her home in the quarterly newsletter that comes in the post.

“I knew about the benefits of insulation and what a big difference it makes to your home and your bills,” she says. “And I was keen to do it through Council where you’re supported through the process.”

She had insulation batts installed in her Pascoe Vale home in January this year by the insulation company chosen by Council.

Having Council pre-select the installers was important to Maria after previous experience.

“Quality tradespeople are very important. I wanted to know that the installers would do a great job. And they did!”

“They were just like family doing the job for you. It took three to four hours for two people and they listened to me to find out exactly what I wanted.”

Making a difference

With insulation batts in her ceiling, Maria has noticed the difference already.

“Insulation keeps the heat in and the cold out,” she explains.

“My home is much cooler on hot days now,” she says. “As soon as I had insulation installed I noticed the difference. On a hot day, by the time the heat gets into the home it’s almost nighttime. I used to need to have the air-conditioner in the kitchen,” she says, “but now I need to turn it off earlier because it gets too cold.”

Maria would highly recommend getting installation to other people.

“Insulation makes a difference.”
