Driving change through electric car-share

We’ve installed a new electric vehicle (EV) charger at Davies Street in Brunswick, with one charging port for public use and one port dedicated to carshare operator Flexicar.

Research has shown each car-share vehicle replaces up to 10 privately owned cars.  That means less traffic, less parking demand and less carbon pollution.

This is particularly true if the cars are electric, charged with electricity backed by renewable certificates – as is the case for all Council EV chargers.

So far as we know, this is the first on-street electric car-share in Australia.

This adds to the 22 public chargers owned and operated by Council. The Davies Street charger provides options for car-share users and encourages car-share companies to transition to EVs.
