Join Friends of Aileu for an inspiring evening at Merlynston Progress Hall for a screening of the powerful documentary Anote’s Ark, followed by a panel discussion. This moving film follows the story of Kiribati’s struggle against rising sea levels caused by climate change — interweaving the international advocacy of former President Anote Tong with the personal journey of Sermary Tiare, a young mother confronting the reality of displacement. It’s an intimate and urgent portrait of the human faces of the climate crisis and the cultural loss threatening entire nations.

The panel will bring together voices from the Pacific Climate Warriors and PermaQueer to showcase Indigenous knowledge and youth leadership in regenerative, community-led climate solutions.

All proceeds from the night will support a young East-Timorese Australian to attend the PERMATIL PermaYouth Convergence in Timor-Leste, October 2025.

PERMATIL is a grassroots Timorese organisation leading innovative, community-driven projects that revive traditional knowledge, build climate resilience, and promote food sovereignty. The PermaYouth Convergence brings together young leaders from across the world to share knowledge, strategies, and inspiration for decolonising agriculture and reclaiming community control over land and food systems.
